F@H Service Monitor

Is there a way to monitor the progress of a Folding service install? I was thinking about a program like FaDSpy... anything out there? Thanks

Yep mrwizer...the only thing you'll miss is viewing remote pc's production...
The only way I have found to check those is by setting them up as ftp servers.
FAH Logstats rocks though! 🙂

There is another monitor program called Electron Microscope III.

It has a "too" glitzy look for me, but it can do more stuff than FAH LogStats, if I remember right.

I like EM3, but this seems funny:

My laptop (P4-M 1.8GHz) claims it is going to get more ppd than my Athlon64 (@2.2GHz). Do Intel's run F@H better than AMD's?

In some cases they do. If they are set up to recieve the right work units they can get a big boost over amd.

Isnt that only on CPU's that have SSE2 (or must they have SSE3)? The controversial QMD units?

And how can you tell if you have a QMD unit?

I'm not sure myself. I'm sure our resident expert will be alone soon with all the info you could ever want to know on the subject.🙂

Good luck with FAH Logstats-a few months ago it crapped out on two computers I had it running on. I posted here and a lot of people had good suggestions, but nothing helped. All of a sudden it just wasn't monitoring anymore.

Is that a Pentium 4 Mobile or a Pentium M?

Either way, you will see better ppd with bonus WUs on either computer. So it is a bonus WU thing more than Intel or AMD.

Except for the QMDs. Which can only be sent to newer Intel CPUs (and Linux boxes, which won't get as good ppd if AMD because of SSE library thing) because of a licensing issue.

Your monitoring program should tell which protein you are working on. QMDs are numbers 1910, 1911, 1912, I think that is all of them.

You could also look in Task Manager for "FahCore_96.exe" which is the QMD core.

Or you could look at "FAHlog.txt" in the folding directory, near the start of the WU it will tell which core and protein number is being crunched.

EDIT: If that is not "all the info you could ever want to know on the subject" and have any questions, just ask 😉

Pentium 4 Mobile. And it is the ..._96.exe core. Although it is an older laptop, so could it get the QMD wu's? And I am probably mistaken, but I thought my A64 was running the same core.

GLeeM, yea... I have LOTS more questions. I just will let them out slowly 😉 Learning about a new project is exciting. And it seems with F@H there is a lot to learn. Mature projects seem to go that way. And thanks for all the help. I am really starting to like F@H! 🙂

Oh, and the WU must be a QMD. It is going to take 72 hours, is using 200 MB of memory, and is named 1911. 🙂

Yup....lucky dog.....
150PPD there 🙂

I was showing my son FAH Logstats and EMIII and he was getting pumped.
I think he will send me some logs from his P4 @ his Mom's house. 🙂

If your A64 is running Linux and you have the client set the same way it could possibly be running the ..._96.exe core. For some reason the Linux client can get QMDs.

Could you do me a BIG favor if the A64 is running a QMD? Tell me how long it will take to finish or how long between frames?

And ask away! 😀

First, it is running Windows. So perhaps I was mistaken in the core it is running. But either way, I will double check once I get around that box. 🙂

No, sorry. It is the 78 core. All these cores are confusing. 😕
