It's a sapphire HD5770 1gb ddr5 128bit. Every time I try to load f@h gpu it tells me either my card isn't supported or I need a current driver. I tried to install the newest driver, but that causes other problems with my machine so I had to roll that back.

@Larry GPU2

@Animal so create a shortcut and add that flag? bc as of right now, as soon as i try to launch the program it says not supported and doesn't start

edit: added the flag, still won't launch. I uninstalled the newer driver and reinstalled the driver that came on the disk with the gpu and everything looks a whole lot better, but f@h gpu still says my card isn't supported or i need a new driver.

According to the FAQ @ Stanford you need driver version 9.10 or newer & need to use the flag I posted above for HD5XXX GPUs. I normally add the flags in the client config, but I don't think it would make a difference.

I was using the systray client, I'm going to try the console version when I get home today. Not being home I'm taking a guess that my driver is 8.7xx. Anything newer causes problems with my resolution and monitor. This is my first foray into win 7 so maybe i'll figure it out in a few days. thanks for the help.

finally got the driver to update properly, it's catalyst 10.5, the driver number is 8.732, still says my card is unsupported or I need a new driver. tried Larry's flag and it said it was an improper flag or something

ok, just read folding forum and the whole 5k series is not supported. No GPU client for me...:-( should have bought a 4k series card

ok, GPU3 works! now another questions....do I have to tell me SMP client to only fold on 7 threads instead of 8 bc i'm now using the GPU? I saw that somewhere, but it was an old post, didn't know if it was still applicable.

I think you can set the GPU client to 'a little higher' priority so that it will get CPU cycles.
Or you could set SMP client to -smp 7

Check your ppd on the SMP without GPU and then see how many ppd the GPU takes away from the SMP average. It might not be worth running the GPU!

Not for ATI yet; you're actually getting GPU2 WU.

but at least I can get it to run, and it looks like it's working pretty quickly. Last night before i went to sleep it, according to HFM my SMP client was putting out something like 4800ppd and the GPU client was doing just under 3000. This morning when I checked it, something was wrong with the SMP client and it was taking over an hour for 1% of the WU, and saying i was getting like 34ppd. Deleted that WU and got a new one that looked like it was running properly when I left.
