F@H: Question on WUs

Hey!

I recently switched over a machine to F@H. I'm monitoring it a little bit and just noticed, that one of the CLIs is working on "timesteps" while the other one is working on "frames." Also, the "frames" increment in single steps while the "timesteps" do so in 1000er steps.

Are these just different kinds of WUs I'm working on or has that do do with the "-advmethods" flag I'm using?

Thx!

for me, crunching data that uses core FahCore_78.exe results in "steps" and using core FahCore_65.exe results in "frames". i think that may be the reasoning (at least from the looks of my log files), but i cant confirm that my answer is 100% correct.

Does one and the same use both?? 'Cause I got a P4 2,8 HT and I downloaded the two CLIs the very same day and one is doing "timesteps" right now while the other one is doing "frames."

Check task manager to see which cores your WUs are doing. You'll get any combination of FahCore_78 (Gromacs), 65 (Tinker), or 79 (Double Gromacs) at once if you're running two instances.

FahCore_78.exe results in "steps" - this is percent done.

FahCore_65.exe results in "frames" - a Tinker can be from 20 frames to 400 frames long.

A monitor is handy to tell you a lot of things. How far into WU you are; time per frame (step); time left before finishing, etc. Alot of us use FAH LogStats.

I got one of those 400 frame WUs and I think this baby is going no need a while to finish ... I sense some major points coming alone! 😉
