F@h: New Gromac core + cpu usage question?

Hey guys,

This is directed to those that have crunched the new _79 COre (known as the double gromac cores with SSE2 optimizations).

Looking at cpu usage it hops all over the place going from 100% to 50 to 0 to 100% (this is 2 processes on a P4C 3.2). This never happened w/ the _65 and _78 core.

Is this normal for the _79 core?

thanks

The Pande group is looking into the issue. It seems that the new core (FAHCore-79, 1.61) might be that inefficient, or it has to do with some issues concerning disk access. we can keep an eye on the official forums for more info and updates.

I noticed the same thing the other day. This was on a P4 2.6C. As a matter of fact I have one on my 2.6C now and it's doing the same thing.

Not too sure what ya mean by auto-release. The client is freezing up on you? Hope this aint a new issue to go along with the wierd cpu utilization bug.....
