Welcome to TeAm AnandTech F@H

TeAm News

Ranking: 25th place.

Production = 54,389 ppd (as of 11:00 am Eastern 8/11/2005) - up 7,000 ppd from Monday

Active Users = 173 - up 11 from Monday!

One new user - please welcome Buck_Naked to the TeAm!

Commentary: Well, as you can see, we've had a big boost in production this week and our stats are looking pretty good. Obviously we have the Poopflingers to thank for adding in about 50,000 extra points so far this week... something not quite as apparent is that our active users are also up 11 over the course of the week. Way to go everyone

As far as the stats updates, well I haven't been doing them as often because I've been getting a little swamped from work. I will be out on the road for much of next week so I don't know if you'll want to start discussions about replacing me, if I don't hear anything I'm just going to continue to make these posts whenever I can. Another reason I haven't had time to post is that I was busy building another folding box for the TeAm, this one's a Sempron 2500+ running Ubuntu Linux, should be good for roughly 150 ppd, and more on good days :)

____________________________________________________________________

Six overtake targets! These are the six teams immediately ahead of us in the standings. Even before this week's big boost we had a couple of them in our sights, let's keep it up!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Dutch Power Cows" - 19th place - 43,747 ppd - overtake: 12/06
"SilentPCReview" - 20th place - 53,111 ppd - overtake: 6/14
"General [M]ayhem" - 21st place - 41,028 ppd - overtake: 5/06
"Macrumors.com" - 22nd place - 53,295 ppd - overtake: 8/12
"Overclockers Club" - 23rd place - 51,463 ppd - overtake: 6/07
"The Knights Who Say Ni!" - 24th place - 46,832 ppd - overtake: 4/06

No current threats. We have leveled up with Portugal in ppd so they are off our radar at this time.

Thanks kb3edk.

I'll be out of town all next week golfing, so if my production goes down, we can blame my wife (she has the tendency to turn the computers off every now and then).

Thanks for the stats kb3edk!

The way you're doing stats is great. We can keep a thread going a few days between new ones... no sweat. Keep it fun for you and don't let it be a worry or a chore. We will thank you if stats come once a month or once an hour.

Congrats to the MMs :D

What is Kensai running that everyone is so anxious to see what his numbers would be? Not that I wouldn't be happy to have a new member even if he's just running 1 or 2 rigs.

Well, I'm back from Canada and moved to college... We had a power outage / router SNAFU at home while I was gone, and my F@H production suffered. Everything is back up now, though, and hopefully there won't be any more problems since the crappy router is out of the chain (modem directly connected to computer with Windows Firewall)

Welcome to the TeAm, Buck_Naked

Congrats to the milestone makers, and thanks for the stats, kb3edk

If I do join the party, I won't be running it off my main rig. Only the ones lying around.

Rig 1:

Dual Opteron 275
8GB DDR400 ECC REG
10 X 146GB Fujitsu 15K SCSI RAID 50
etc. etc.

Rig 2:

A64 4400+
2GB DDR400
etc. etc.

Rig 3:
AMD FX-55
2GB TCCD DDR400
etc. etc.

Rig 4: A64 3500+
Rig 5: A64 3200+
Rig 6: AMD Sempron 2800+
Rig 7: AMD Sempron 2800+
Rig 8: A64 3500+
Rig 9 : Intel P4 540J
Rig 10: A64 3200+
Rig 11: P3 600Mhz
Rig 12: AMD 700MHz
Rig 13: Dual 2.0GHz LV Xeon
Rig 14: Dual 1.6GHz LV Xeon (Coming soon)

Given a combined total of nearly 15TB, electricity costs would go through the roof. :p

@Kensai
I can see your concern over electricity costs with that many computers!

For a while now there have been some bonus WUs that Stanford is trying out (testing for fast results) that newer Intel CPUs can get (licensing reasons  ) - your P4 and the Xeons. They use lots of ram and memory bandwidth and work the CPU hard, but if the computer is a dedicated rig there should be no problem, I run them on rigs that I use daily. The computer must have at least 512 MB to get these and have the >5MB option set to yes and have the -advmethods flag set, which is easy to do with the new 5.04 console (which can also be easily set to run as a service).

These WUs run so well that just your three rigs that can run these would put you in the Top 10 (or close) in daily production. Oops! Maybe, if the Xeons are overclocked at all, are they? I have my Dual 1.6Ghz LV Xeon running at 2.496Ghz without any hardware mods, just some good ram.

I think you would really enjoy crunching here, great project and great TeAm of folders except for ... hmm who should I pick on and tease? ... oh I'll be nice - they all are great. :D

HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL that's ridiculous!! I would love to see them all on for a week just to see what your average would be. But I now understand your concerns about electricity costs. If I were you, I would definitely run Rigs 9, 13, 14 with the -advmethods flag and >5mb WUs because that's 5 procs right there which would probably be good for over 1000ppd. The FX would probably tear some stuff up as well. Welcome aboard!

Most of the systems have 1GB though some have 2GB.
The Xeon's are at 3.2GHz. Don't know about the 2.0s yet.
I'll try it as soon as I get home.. That's the 26th of this month. :p

Most of my friends find that I'm crazy. I agree with them.
I should have 5 more systems in 1U cases near the end of Sept-Oct range.

F@H doesn't really go by number of WUs completed like other DC programs. F@H is more about the points that each WU yields.
