Ok, I have a AMD K6 that is just sitting around so I thought I would try installing Linux on it to play around with it and see what Linux is like, but here's my problem: I know nothing about Linux  I downloaded two distros ubuntu and debian, are these good for beginners? Will they play nice with F@H? Basically I need someone to tell me it's gonna be ok :D

Yup. It works. The only thing is you won't have a GUI. It runs in a console.

Hey nate, I've done F@H on Ubuntu Linux before and it's really easy.

The hardest part is actually getting Ubuntu installed, there should be some bootable Ubuntu installer CD images that are downloadable off their website.

And yes, you do want to go with Ubuntu as opposed to Debian, Ubuntu is actually based off of Debian but with all sorts of Linux newbie type stuff that makes the installation easier than an average Debian install. Since you are running on such old hardware the odds that its supported on Linux is very great :)

Also, now that I recall, I made several posts about running F@H on Ubuntu a few months back. It didn't get such a rousing reception at the time but who knows, maybe you will still find it useful: here is the old thread
