F@H and dual boot question...

I think I know the answer, just want to confirm. My home PC dual boots (both WinXP - mainly for beta testing and other purposes) and when running Seti, I just ran it from one folder regardless of which XP instance I had booted. Worked like a charm, same WU processed, no lost production or stale WU's.

For F@H, I have it installed as a service on my "main" install, and I'm guessing just running the client with the -config flag on the other install and installing it as a service there would allow me to do essentially the same thing, since everything is stored in that one directory.

Am I correct? Has anyone had any luck with such a setup?

I haven't tried this, but I don't see any reason it would not work.

I know that it doesn't work with Quick User Switching because you would have two clients working on the same WU, which messes it all up.

I'll set it up and let everyone know what happens! Nothing like being a guinea pig. I just want to make sure I don't have a 600 point WU tucked in process, because it would really stink to lose one of those 😉

Just backup your folding directory. If you lose it no biggie! 😉
I just moved my folding dir to another partition on my HTPC so I could reformat my media partition. All went without a hitch.

you'll be fine..... just run it as a service in wine in linux and you'll be set unless you can put your linux client and config into the same dir as your win client and just use the same cpu folder and log files

🙂
