So I already played through the original Fear game, but I picked up the other 2 expansion packs and don't have the original game installed.

Can I play the expansion packs without installing the original game.

My box for FEAR Extraction Point says "Requires full version of FEAR to play" on it, is that one of the expansion packs you're referring to?

Pretty sure you need the original. I have the Gold or Platinum pack with all of them, I will double check.

I just installed the game and I'm getting some lousy performance.

I can play current games at max (or near max), but at medium-high I'm getting ~30 fps in Fear.

Is there some issue?

Perseus Mandate

I bought perseus rising and was very excited to play it since I had such fond memories of the first two installments. They should have released that game this last summer and not in the middle of the FPS overload of all time month....I installed it and just can get myself to play with so many other good games to finish. Even after finishing the last few new games I have I would rather go play TF2 instead of playing through this...Maybe when im truly bored I will try it.

Edit: sorry for the OT ;

FEAR Extraction Point needs the original FEAR installed to play.

However FEAR Perseus Mandate to give it its correct title, is stand alone.

I'm playing through Perseus Mandate currently and really enjoying it. :D

If you have a USB Logitech G15 Keyboard or USB Logitech G5 Mouse or both, it causes issues with framerate in F.E.A.R. do a search and you'll find other people with the same issue. Either try to update your logitech drivers or disable those logitech services which are causing this issue. I had this issue when I was running the x86 version of Vista, didn't have the same issue with x64 Vista.

EDIT: With a 8800GT you should be good for max quality (no soft shadows) and 4xMSAA & 16xAF for F.E.A.R.
