F.E.A.R. doesn't work

F.E.A.R. recently updated itself and now I can't play the game. It says wrong disc is inserted so I tried my other four discs but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?? My F.E.A.R. is the 5CD one. Thank you very much.
 
If it installs then just download a nocd patch. Google it and you'll come up with tons of results. Just make sure you get the right patch for the version you just updated to.
 
Two potential reasons for this .. one is that you are running some type of emulation software on your PC like Slysofts AnyDVD (I have it on mine & have to disable it to run FEAR) or there is an MS security update that prevents FEAR from starting (KB917422)... you can try a "no-CD" patch as has been suggested, but if it doesn't work, try removing that update.
