For some reason...

I set my settings to MAXIMUM in the PERFORMANCE options...

That meant that FSAA was at 4x and Soft Shadows was turned on...

Then I tested the settings...

Average frame rate was 21?

Then I changed my settings again but then I removed the FSAA and Soft Shadows...

Did another test and....

Average frame rate was 20?!?!?!

For both tests, the frames never went above 25 FPS

WTF?

I also played the single player campaign and it didn't feel quite right...

After that, I loaded up Extraction Point and played the campaign.

The FPS was WAY better (same settings) than F.E.A.R.

It felt a lot faster in Extraction Point.

But then...

There was this one occasion (like 2 days ago) where I loaded up F.E.A.R. and the frame rates were higher.

I did a test on that day and *gasp* the frame rates actually went above 25!!!

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this frame rate problem?

Thanks! (Sorry for all those blank spaces)

Two things:

(1) Extraction Point is much more demanding than Fear.
(2) Soft shadows do not work with AA.

With regards to your varying performance I would guess you're changing global driver settings between game runs and forgetting you've done so.

Actually, this morning...

I underclocked my CPU back to 1.8GHz and for some reason...my frames for F.E.A.R. were higher again (like that one time not too long ago).

Same thing happened to me and Double Agent. I overclocked the CPU and DA ran like garbage. I set it back to its default value and, what do you know, it stopped running like garbage!

Oh well...

Problem solved...for now...

BTW, I put everything to Application-Controlled for the Nvidia control panel.

Nevermind, I found out the problem...

XFIRE!

Damn...

I really want it on though... :D

Also...something more weird...

I set my resolution on my Dell monitor to 1680x1050 and I turned off the AA and Soft Shadows and I did my testing again...

100% 40FPS+

WTF? It does better when the resolution is higher? LOL!

God...this is a weird ass computer...
