Sorry for the rant but I gotta vent....

here it is

[rant mode]
Just stopped(earlier this evening) at the local Blockbusters and picked up a DVD for my daughter to watch - Winnie the Pooh :p:D. Well I have an "entertainment" computer that I watch DVDs on and have my MP3 collection on (yes I own all the CDs). Well I go to watch it and now all of a F@#$%*^ sudden it is saying that I can't watch the DVD from my computer unless I turn off the TV-out....THATS HOW I SEE MY COMPUTER - THROUGH THE DANG TV. No need for a monitor in the family room if you have a TV - PLUS what fun would it be to watch a DVD on a ~17" monitor when you can watch it on a 27" TV? I so F#@#$((* pissed right now I could.....dasmit I don't even know what i wanna do I am so pissed right now. What the F right does Disney (or any other Motion Picture company) have to tell me I can watch my DVD on my computer if I use a monitor but not if I use TV-out? I'm not gonna buy a DVD player when I already have a DVD-rom that has worked on every movie i've tried until tonight (granted I don't rent alot and it has been a while)

I can see why people would Rip/Encode DVDs to divx and such so then they wouldn't have to deal with the BS of these freaking morons. Like making that "TV-out" rule is going to stop any "Pirating" - GET A F'n CLUE DISNEY!!!!

[/rant mode]

Anyone else feel that these Bas***ds have stepped over the line like I do? Don't get me wrong - pirating is wrong(backing up is not ;)) but these guys (not just Disney cuz a paramount dvd i rented at the same time does the same thing) think they can tell me what, where and with what hardware I can/can't watch DVDs on. My only message to them is K*** my A**!

['ok really this should end it
/rant mode]
Sorry again for the rant but I am really jacked up about this.

Well for one thing I hope you don't use that kind of language around your daughter

Second - I think the situation sucks - and if anything, people aren't going to rip children's movies to DivX - just the popular teenage/young adult type stuff. Did you bring it back to Blockbuster?

Umm - nope and nope

I don't use **** around my kids so I had to vent here - sorry

and no i didn't return it - i had picked it up after work ~4:30 and didn't pop it in unil ~6:45 so they wouldn't let me anyway (our local store is kinda strict on "returns")

eh wtf? a dvd by itself cannot detect whether your pc has a tv out, thats absurd. are you dumb enough to try playing the dvd with its built in software? use something like windvd or power dvd:p

F#@#$%& Disney!
I live about 40 miles from Disney World (tragic Kingdom) and the majority of locals have been saying that as long as I can remember :D

Umm - me not dumb :p yes I use PowerDVD - same result :( - of course I did update to the newest version recently....but the DVDs I own (matrix, austin powers, etc) still work just fine but they are a little older.

So YES what they put on the actual CD is "smart enough" ;)

What do you expect from the giant-eared rodent scum trying to bribe congress into outlawing any PC's without copy-protection at the operating system level? Obey the mouse!!
