Damn, news travels fast thanks to flash alerts on the phone. I see that Mueller referred this matter to NY AG office but is not pursuing anything on Cohen related to the Russia investigation. Stormy Daniels lawsuit just got realer.

will trump be smart enough not to attack the FBI via Twitter regarding this?

"at this time."

But it would be somewhat surprising to see Cohen tied up in this...well, or not really. D T being his only client and all, Cohen must know where went, and where came from much of that money over the years. Mueller had some actionable information not directly related to his own work, but this gives him another source to squeeze for more salient information related to the investigation.

You got to be thinking at this point that if you are someone that has at any point associated yourself in business with Donald Assburger Trump, then you are a target of investigation.

What is the potential wrong doing in this case? It sound like a lot more than just paying off Stormy before the election.

Well, there is actually a lot to "just paying off Stormy Daniels." Mueller probably found some solid information regarding the source of the money. Say, directly from campaign funds. That's kind of a big deal.

Cohen is a key figure in the Steele dossier.

I think if it were related to the very solid intelligence collected by Steele (recall that he did speak privately with Mueller, and shared more information that was not included in his original memos), then it would have been Mueller's action on this raid, no? Though...keeping it with the NY AG means POTUS can't do anything to shield Cohen.

This is definitely it.

Interesting, Trump is watching the news coverage right now. Apparently he was given an earlier heads up as a courtesy by Chris Wray (so he wouldn't have to find out from"fake news")... But only after the raid had started!!!

Should Christopher Wray recuse himself as FBI director since he was appointed by Trump and now must handle an investigation against Trump?

Hahahaha, they raided Cohen's hotel room too!

edit: His wife was in his room when the FBI showed up. Also, they probably raided his home, since a pipe had burst and the Cohens were conveniently not home.

No judge is going to issue a warrant against the Presidents longtime personal lawyer unless God came down as a witness. Well, time to get religion! Mueller must have about the strongest evidence against Cohen to even get this paid attention to.

What is notable is that this isn't a subpoena for documents that Cohen can put off. Nope, this is a full-on Manafort raid and we see how well that's going for him.

I'd argue that this is even more serious for Cohen because all that needs to be found is evidence of unprofessional conduct as an attorney and he's disbarred. He doesn't need to be found guilty of a crime and go to prison for that.

I'd like to buy Stormy a drink.

I was planning on not drinking this evening, but now I might. Probably pour one for my new homie, Stormy.
