Wow more fake anti-F22 propaganda. Dumbass, the flaws with that story are even stupider than the OP.

Already proven to be FAKE

Here's a novel idea, attack the argument, not the OP. Or are you just spouting off like him?

If it is fake I'll take it down.
Please give more verifiable info, and if true I'll remove it. But I've got to leave in a few minutes so please reply soon. Thank you.

Ha! Yes, that's probably a good rule of thumb.

So if anybody knows that this F22 story is a hoax please give some verifiable input & I'll remove it. I'm definitely NOT trying to hoax anybody.

But I'm due far away & running late so if you don't show me soon, then my response will have to wait until late tonight.

edit: Or if an ATOT MOD decides it's a hoax while I'm not here to take care of it, please lock this thread & I'll take the linked article down tonight.

Is this fake?

It looks prety realistic to me. Or are those pictures taken out of context?

Please post info debunking this if it's a hoax.

it's not a hoax. Just a repost, and while it's a seemingly stupid mistake, mistakes can happen.

Thanks, a few people own an apology to Scott here. Mind you referencing the previous thread by Scott was bound to iritate a few people.

question: for government contracts, if the manufacturer is to blame for a mistake, do they eat the costs to repair them all or does the government?

It depends on if it meets specs.

Umm... Since when is the cockpit release tied into the computer system?

why wouldn't it be?

Makes no sense for it to be. Even during ejection, the process is on it's own system. Tying the cockpit release into the main computer control would be like connecting an electric window to the ABS system. No reason to do it.

This version of the story is a hoax though, since it inflates the damage from $180K to $1M and changes the cause from loose screws to a software failure.

Next up, a cockpit screen view of a Windows BSOD as the cause :)

Yeah, but these are the same people who told us that Roswell was the end result of a weather balloon experiment gone wrong.

Scott I am sorry I called you an idiot, I just get upset about this (this type of attacking the platform and prototypes cause major set backs and delays), and I have followed it since its production and have other personal interests in it (hence my previous name).

Anyway, yes the cockpit did jam, but if you read any defense news boards you would know that that jpg that you posted is extremely exaggerated and made by someone who does not see the need for an advanced fighter platform in this day and age. Yes the stock has soared (I bought it back at 55$ ;), but they of course did develop a cockpit release switch to open it, not to mention an emergency ejection of the canopy for tarmac fire situations (it was not used in this case because there was no immediate threat to the pilot). And, as you read from the above articles it was caused by loose screws, crew cheif and pilot should have seen this.

The plane will not just drop out of the sky if a computer fails. The redundancy and backup systems of the avionics prevent this.

The last image is of a protype cockput from the early days of the F22, not even related to the article as others on boards have pointed out. No way would any images that close up be released to the public in a functional cockpit.

Also as for the "meshing problems" the F22 is already operational, and flying fine. Not to mention the lack of detail into this problem just shows it is made up.

The damage claims have also been increased. Once again, fake.

The files were declassified, it was a weather balloon.
