Near Sarasota, Florida.

Will probably turn out to be the lack of air traffic control that is so prevalent here.

Same thing in Palm Beach Co. not so long ago, airports with no towers, highly expeienced aerobatics and beginner pilots collided.

That is something I miss now that I am living in Texas (near dallas)...

Several times I saw fighters flying in and around Tampa, presumably MacDill airbase. One time I was driving north on I75 and saw a squadron of low-flying A-10s flying directly overhead, and without a doubt they were following the highway to get to their destination (probably miami)... so much for fancy satallite navigation :p But then if you look close, you could probably see the coiled rubber-band providing propulsion... j/k.

damn, The F16 missed my MIL's house & went down on the golf course instead.

Regrets for the people in the Cessna. They probably never knew what hit em. My condolances to their families. It blew apart in the sky. The F16 flew thru it.

The F16 pilot never even saw the Cessna. He thought maybe he hit a big bird !!!

call sign of the 2 F16s.... vodoo1 & vodoo2 out of Ga.

Prayers for the people that died in this accident !!!

Might happen one day near where I work. Crap the debris will probably rain down on use. Hanscomb Air Force Base is now partially civilian and there are a lot of private and commuter planes along with the military traffic.

Most military accidents with a civilian plane is the civilian's fault. The military has the radar and is mainly IFR. The civs use VFR. I went to the Bham control tower last week. They said they have people flying VFR that get in the way all the time. IMHO it is foolish to fly a VFR only plane in traffic or in bad weather. Even less than perfect weather can be impending doom for VFR planes. My father died on a jet that was flying VFR. It was foggy and the main executives wanted to leave quickly. The pilots flew VFR in the fog and there was a good bit of traffic. They were waiting for a jet to clear the airspace so they could climb and hit a mountain. All the people on board died. One day people will realize that being hasty can screw you up.

Hanscomb is nothing. I use to live next to O'hare and that was scary. Having a bunch of 747's flying about 1,000 feet above your house and then to see a little private jet in between was scary. They finally said no more private planes are to land there anymore, but to still see the little prop jobs and then a jumbo is a scary site. It is also way more populated then Hanscomb.
