Ez Question About Power On Computer...

I'd like to do this to check my fan controller. Could I turn it on with the cpu lever down (cap on) and turn my computer on to check the fans?

I think you might be able to, but nothing will display. Might depend on the motherboard though. I know that I've had the fans spin up despite having a dead cpu in the socket.

Will it cause harm to the cpu pins if no cpu is on and turned on? I'm sure the fans will spin, but will harm come about?
