Hi, I have a P8z68-v pro I'm trying to flash to version 0902. I got the rom file, I formatted a new DVD RW disc in win7 and stuck the rom at the root.
When I reboot and run ez-flash 2 the DVD doesn't appear. I get 3 volumes on the left, my SSD, my HDD and what I'm guessing is the reserved drive win7 creates... The dvd simply doesn't appear in the list of volumes on the left.
I can boot from this drive and it appears in the bios normally, it's simply that ez flash doesn't show it.
1. I can't tell if it's formatted as fat32 - win7 doesn't give that kind of choice when formatting
2. I dont have a thumb drive
3. I tried sticking the bios on my external HDD, but while I can see the HDD and the file on it in ez-flash 2, I can't flash from it I'm assuming because it's formatted as NTFS.
4. my win7 greys out the 'Create an MS-DOS startup disk' in the format menu, else I'd have tried going that route and using BUPDATER.EXE from the asus site.
I'll likely end up re-formatting my external drive if I can't get the DVD to work, but MAN, I have very rarely been as frusterated by anything as I am right now. It's simply astounding that flashing the MB is STILL, after 15 years of building my own machines, such a complete pain in the @ss. I avoid this stuff, and I'm remembering why now.
Please tell me I'm doing something stupid, I would love to know if anyone else has flashed from a dvd and what are the exact steps it took to do so.
