Eyes Wide Shut???!!!

I just finished watching this....
wow....
that was weird.
It was pretty cool though.
Who else has seen it?
What did you think it was about?

If the sucking power of that movie could be captured, it would create the most energy efficient vacuum cleaner ever imagined. It seemed like one of those flicks that was weird for the sake of being weird. A waste of three hours.

I really liked the cinematography and the campy mood. It didn't bother me that the story made little sense, I've seen weirder movies.

Concur. I like wierd movies too, like A Clockwork Orange, but dang. Guess he was just trying to go out with a bang.

I can thank that movie for one thing only. The very last line in the movie---my wife and I use that all the time.

It bored me to tears. After a half hour, I was looking for toothpicks to prop open my eyelids. After an hour, I was stabbing myself to stay awake. It was an enormous waste of time that could have been better spent - and more pleasant - in getting a root canal or a D&C.

What was the last line? I can't seem to remember

I'm a huge Kubrick fan, but that movie, aside from the Cinematography, and the Kubrick Directed Dialogue, was LAME!
LAME, LAME, LAME! 😛

Just another Hollywood POS, as far as I'm concerned. I was bored with it the first time, so I watched it again, just to see if I missed anything the first time. Second evaluation; Still a typical POS Hollywood filler.

I too watched that movie twice. My wife and I saw it on Premiere Night (first night it came out), and was hoping to make a segueway into some great u-know-what since it was a sex thriller.

We got home and went to bed.

I watched it again when it came out on HBO, and unless I'm missing something, it still sucked. I paid particular attention to the "underlays" since it was Kubrick, and indeed thought it still sucked. Nothing to get me thinking.

BTW. Everytime I see Beethoven's face, I think of "A Clockwork Orange" ---I'm singing in the rain (kick, smack....) so for that I can thank Kubrick. For Eyes Wide Shut, I'll take a dump on his grave.

Here's a question for you brilliant folks that think the movie sucked, can you tell us why you think it was called Eyes Wide Shut? I know you'll sarcastically say because you had your eyes shut watching it from boredumb, so spare me. Seriously, why do you suppose it was titled Eyes Wide Shut?

I thought the title was mundane after viewing:

Eyes Wide Open: General Society, and all of the "facades" that people have in the movie. Like that director/Actor who had the girl OD was the first insight into the Underground of all those rich folks.

Eyes Wide Shut: You think you know everyone by their facades, and that's how you relate to them. But in reality, the cover of the book, is just a cover, so what you think you know, you don't, and what you think is true isn't, even in NK, and TC's life, as we saw was full of misconceptions (looked like a great, happy, successful couple, but had problems themselves) so in reality even though you thought your eyes were wide open, they were really WIDE SHUT.

That's my 02c.

i love this movie, I don't see how you think it is typical hollywood compuwiz, it is the EXACT opposite. I'll take this over your typical fast paced/no brain hollywood garbage any damn day.

My friend and I think we figured this movie out:

Nicole Kidman actually knew about Tom going to the party because she WAS THERE. Watch it a couple times and kind all the subtle clues.

I actually loved this movie. I made me feel paranoid just as Tome Cruise's character was paranoid.
