EyeQ - Speed Reading

Can anyone else tell me if this thing really works? I tried the demo and it seemed to make my reading go faster but that might just be my subconscious mind reading faster and getting less information into my head after the test...

I went from 404 to 512. More interesting would be a comprehension test. Doesn't matter how fast you can scan words if you don't get the full meaning out of what's written.

Yep,

There is a definite balance between reading for comprehension and reading for speed. I can increase my reading speed by at least a factor of 2 when I am reading things that I am only mildly interested in and have no real need to retain. I would like to see someone read a solid state semiconductor text book at 1250 WPM and then ask that person to solve for the minority carrier lifetimes in a gold doped N-type material...

I remember thos infomercials a long time ago with the world's fastest reader (some big fat guy) and he was moving his hand 3 times on each page back and forth and he'd flip the page. How the heck can you get any of that information?

My speed decreased by 10wpm. I want the last 8 minutes of my life back.

What a hokey, lame product and a load of crap. I finished and had to wonder what the hell just happened and why someone thought that could help?

If your speed increased odds are you felt compelled to hurry up because you thought that was supposed to happen. Not to mention, your brain was stimulated just before reading the second passage so it was naturally going a little faster anyway. Odds are you weren't too stimulated before reading the first passage. Also, how much did you retain from the second vs. the first?

My speed went up but I think I rushed myself on the second one to make myself believe I had results 😛

There were more polysyllabic words in the first reading section, and much fewer in the second. I think it's rigged.

I have a speed reading program and it seems to have the same exercises as this one. Speed Reader or something like that.
