It's time for me to get a new pair of prescription glasses, because my regular pair broke. I'm looking at $500-600 CAD for a pair of eyeglasses if purchase locally, and an additional prescription sport/safety that would run around $700-800, which I don't want to pay for if I can find a good source for glasses online.

Please provide link if you have good online purchase experience.

Thanks.

Wow. Do you guys have Foreyes or America's Best up there? I got two pairs: One "trendy" black plastic framed pair, and one pair that's half rim , with reduced thickness lenses and anti glare...for under $300 USD.

Whoops, you said online. And looks like you guys don't have For Eyes. Sucks that it's so expensive locally. I couldn't imagine buying glasses without being able to try them on.

I got a set of Nike frames with Flexon + prescription lenses from Lenscrafters for about $300. Can bend them in half and they just spring right back into their original shape. It's a pretty lightweight metal as well. Take a look here and here for information about them. I wear the 4012 frames.

For the lenses, Cost Co can actually have a top-of-the-line pair milled up for probably a third of the regular retail price...same coatings, same index thinness (if your scrip is strong like mine). I imported the exact frames that DOC was asking $500 for and had the lenses made...probably saved me $400 overall.

Total cost for my glasses came to about $700. With insurance, it got reduce to $500. If I know it would cost that much I would have save the money for lasik. BTW, I choose the high index lenses. It was that that pushed the price so high.

WOW, just WOW.

I usually pay around 300 bucks per pair.

I wait till Sears has their 50% off sale.

That's cheaper than what it would cost if i used my insurance.

You can always go with the BC frame style(What the Army issues new recruits) that should run you on the cheap. Just don't plan on getting laid while wearing them. :p

There are PRK & Lasik surgeries center available in my town, but I'm afraid that it might go sour. My glasses are high index lenses, therefor purchasing regular eyes wear & sport/safety wear would cost for an operation on 1 eye.
