I am getting my order ready for Zenni Optical and trying to decide on spring hinges or not.

I like my glasses really firm in place(on my face) since I get sweaty doing my work and I have had good luck with non-spring hinges. But then again, I have only been wearing glasses for a short time.

What do you guys who wear them all the time think? Spring or non-spring?

EDIT(7/24): I finally settled on these in gold.
We will see how they are when they come in.

EDIT(8/4): OK.. got my new glasses in today. They look good and fit perfectly!

I don't wear glasses, but I think that the spring hinges last longer since they don't flex the frame as much.

Lol, just visited the site. Buy one, and if you don't like them, buy the other. That place is cheap!

I have to have bi-focal with no line so they are running ~$50...a bit salty for 2 pair.

Oh yeah u can get em as cheap as $8 but with the add-ons I need mine came to $45. Still a long way from the $250 I paid for my current pair.

I've been getting spring hinges for the last decade or so and they last much longer. Probably not a good thing since I don't my my eyes checked as frequently now. :)

Yeah...they are reliable. Check out the thread at FW.

Seems like their customer service is poor but the eyeglesses and price is hard to beat.

Can't get there from work but sent the link home. I was afraid this was just a ripoff taking your money but google had some decent links. If they can sell the frames so cheap, how much profit is the eye doc making???

Yep, like people said, CS sucks but the glasses are super cheap. My kid has a pair, the wife has had a couple, my friend's kid has a pair... he had ordered some for himself, but they showed up broken. I dunno how much effort he put into getting it taken care of, though.

And I prefer spring hinges.

I checked their site and I can get complete glasses for under $80. Thanks everybody.

Spring Hinges too...

I wouldn't buy glasses without spring hinges. I've spread too many pairs with my fat head...and always end up FUBAR'ing them trying to bend them back in...

I started wearing titanium frames about 5 years ago, and they are so much better (for me) than the "regular stuff" they make frames out of...

I got some spring hinge glasses from zenni about a month ago as a spare, definitely worth the $25 shipped I paid. As for fit, I'd say that the hinges are not as snug as my other glasses (which are not spring hinge), they are comfortable and not loose on me. (But fit really depends on the shape of your face) I have the exact dimensions of my other glasses so I used that to find a pair on zenni.

Another vote for spring hinges.
I have one pair that has lasted me about 4 years now. Nice snug fit still.
BTW, I don't have prescription glasses, just reading glasses, so I likely do not use them as much as you.

Get the ones with magnetic clip ons. I have two pairs, black and chrome they are both rock solid, and polarized clip-ons are awesome and interchangeable.

By far the best pair of glasses I have had, and I had some really expensive Nike Flexons. It's amazing that it's under $40 bucks. Just goes to show how much of a rip off your local optician is.
Make sure you get the right width frame though.

I've gotta agree with Boomer. I recall when I didn't have spring hinges that a few times a year, I'd take my glasses in to have them refit to my head. Slowly, they seemed to spread out. Of course, they always blamed the way I handled my glasses. Fast forward to spring hinges - I've never had to go back to have my frames adjusted.

I don't think I've ever had spring hinged glasses in the past ~6 years. No wonder they always slide off, and I'm pushing them up every 5 minutes. Oh well, I'm going back to contacts soon; tired of the complete lack of peripheral vision and impossibility of finding cheap and good sunglasses.
