What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you have more than 1 DP monitor you need to hook up to the card?

Sorry didnt explain. Have 3 dvi monitors and DP adapters are very hard to find right now. Eyefinity on my 5800 cards requires one displayport monitor as of now.

I had a lot of trouble with units that were on the "approved hardware" list for eyefinity. upon searching I found that I was not the only one to have these issues, and that in fact almost all of the products that were approved were only a few different pieces of hardware that have been rebranded by many different 3rd parties.

I just broke down and bought a DP display.

Ya I would as well but I have 3 24s already. Had two 2485s that were down fixed-bad caps-and now I stare at my future eyefinity setup with anticipation. I bought a zr24 but ended up returning it since the 2485s actually looked better...

Okay, that's the wrong type of adapter. You need DP->DVI, not DVI->DP. They're electrical (active) adapter and not mechanical, so they aren't "reversable."

Yeah, ViRGE is right. That's for using DisplayPort monitors from DVI-output computers.

There's an active DP-to-DVI adapter by Sapphire which is the same as the Bytec one sold by Dell.com. It's around $100. You can't use the passive adapters for less because the cards do not have a third display driver.

Wanted to say thanks PCTC2 for finding that for me. Finally got around to setting up eyefinity with that dongle. Kind of hurt to use ZR24s at work that I ordered and come home to my three monitors and not use them for eyefinity. Have to say while its somewhat of a pita eyefinity gaming on a few games really is awesome.

Bad company 2 looks awesome. Have to run on reduced settings but still looks great. Best so far is Assasins Creed 2 and AVP. WOW those games rock maxxed out!

No Problem. =). I know how you feel. I've used this adapter for a few months now and I couldn't be happier gaming on 3 22" Samsung LCDs. Next stop, Xfire Eyefinity?

Ya trying to decide if I want to go xfire 5870 or get a 5850 and overclock it for some frankenfire action or even get a 5890 and throw this 5870 into the htpc. I cant get myself to try out portrait mode because redoing the mounts would take forever.

Do you have a problem with resume from sleep? Im getting an occasional bug where the monitor on the DP adapter shows up as a 800x600 monitor after sleep resume. Only way to fix is to shutdown and pull adapter and replug. The monitor grouping and everything comes back after that reboot. Ive disabled sleep and just shut down for the night till I figure it out. I have a feeling its power over usb issue. Wonder if plugging into a powered hub would fix it? Getting one tomorrow to test.
