Eyefinity, 3 monitors, side ones squishy?

Ok, I finally found a third monitor to add to my amdati 5770 eyefinity setup. So now I have 3 22" WS monitors, configured at 5040x1050. Windows 7 looks great as does explorer, but I do not need all that desktop space. I want it for games :)

Anyway, I cranked up Dragon Age Origins and set up the res and yes, it plays pretty smooth if I crank AA to 4x or 2x. But, the video on the side screens, while at the proper resolution, look a bit skewed or squished. Is this the way its supposed to look? I assume that the eyefinity/DAO does that with the sides because you are looking at the center monitor and the side ones would throw your vision off if it was flat as the center. Am I right or is my setup wrong? Cat 10.5 BTW.

A picture of the setup running DAO would help in assessing the situation.

Based on your description this sounds normal. It's similar to the effect when you flatten a globe onto a map, the further you are from center the more skewed it gets. Since you are rendering the 3d world onto a flat plane a fish eye effect results.

The only way around it is for future game engines to assume a curved plane or use multiple camera points.

Ok, that sounds spot-on. It doesnt bother me too much unless I am looking directly at the side screens. Wearing glasses just add to the curving effect. thanks!
