Eye Twitch

Okay, for the last 2 weeks or so, my left eyelid has been twitching ever so slightly. It's not a serious problem, just a minor nuisance. I wear hard contacts and have a pretty high prescription. Any thoughts on what this might be? I've heard different suggestions of more sleep/less stress (kind of hard right now on the latter) to "OMFG, you're going to go blind, dude!"

Like so many others, I put myself on the sacrificial altar of ATOT instead of seeking medical help. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Mine has been doing it too. I know the cause though - it's lack of sleep/irregular sleeping patterns. I have to be at work at 0530 some days and 1800 other days. It's rough.

UGH!how can your job ask you to do that? You'd never get a good nights sleep with that kind of schedule.

Also, about the eye twitch... muscle twitching can be caused by dehydration. Are you drinking enough fluids every day?

Mm...I probably should drink an extra glass of water or two a day. Would that still explain why it's happening in only one eyelid?

Eat two bannanas, get a good nights rest, avoid eye strain, and call me in the morning.

It's very common, and I would only worry about it if it really gets to be a problem.

A teacher of mine used to get a twitch in the muscles below her eye all the time, and she eventually got it taken care of by acupuncture, of all things.

is that above or below the eye?

there's a chinese superstition that if it twitches above the eye, something good might happen, and if it twitches below the eye, soemthing bad might happen....

so watch out either way. :)

It's above the eye, so hopefully superstition will hold true. Thanks for the suggestions guys/gals; I'll drink more water, and get some more sleep. If all else fails, I'll just poke it out.

Thanks again!

If you poke it out be sure to keep it to show people. I had the same problem a few weeks ago, my right eyelid twitched for about 2 weeks. I drink plenty of water, so I dont think that is it, but possibly sleep.

Lack of Sleep. That's what my doctor told me, and it seems true in my case. I only get the twitches when I don't sleep enough.

My eye just stopped twitching after doing it every 5-20 minutes for over two weeks. I tried vitamins, sleep, water, and anything else I'd heard. It drove me crazy, but I think you're just going to have to wait it out. It sucks, I know.
