I have spent two days trying to find a good way to attach photos to Android tablet email. I could download images from folder to tablet. But, attaching to email was problematic. I also could do it via a cloud portal, but that is a bit clumsy and requires a PC.

The I got a suggestion about Eye-Fi from a friend. Eye-Fi is a SD chip that can transmit images via W-Fi. The concept is simple. The hard part was getting the Eye.fi/mobi app downloaded and installed. I finally got that done.

Then the app has to be activated by a code printed on the Eye-fi SD's case. Mine was an 8 digit code. After that it all falls into place. I took several test shots and all were auto uploaded to the tablet where they could be fixed to go with email.

Apple tablets are supposedly much easier because there are more such apps made for them. But I got it done with a Kindle Fire HD 8.9-in.

I don't understand, you're trying to get photos from a card, to the tablet, to then email?

To get photos in the tablet that can be attached to email sent from the tablet, I can use onr of several ways. 1. USB cable from camera or PC folder to tablet. 2. Upload to a designated cloud folder and then download to tablet. 3. Use the new Eye-Fi.

Very simply, all work, but the fastest and easiest is the Eye-Fi SD card in the camera. It auto puts the contents on Wi-Fi and that is immediately available in the tablet or any other Android device. If you have a Wi-Fi camera, you don't need Eye-Fi.

Not sure about iPad - it is often hung up on iTunes and has no USB port. :)

I've really been tempted to try one of these but the reviews give me pause. How fast are the transfers?

Write speeds suck on eye=fi cards. :( beyond the seen they are the most useful gadget I've used in years. Kind of becoming obsolete with high MP camera phones and Skydrive but I still love them.

I was a little confused about your initial post, since nowhere did you designate that the photos were from an SD card. You only mentioned that the EyeFi App allowed you to email attachments.

If I had read that you wanted "photos from an SD card to a tablet to email", then I would have suggested this:

Then just use a USB card reader.

Not all Android tablets support OTG. EyeFi definitely costs more but it's also automatic.

The Eye-Fi Mobi is a SD card. It has Wi-Fi built in. Not all readers can handle it - the initialization requires a slightly higher voltage than some readers can deliver. I have two that work. As for speed - it really is not an issue. The process is done by the time I get around to checking. Faster than that really serves no purpose. BTW, it is a class 6 SD card.

And, thr Mobi version requires no additional app to be installed or used.
