eXXXtreme router cooling

is the heatsink just sitting on top of the router or did you actually cut a hole in the case and attatch the heat sink to something inside?

ALRIGHT 🙂 I have the same router. Will try this mod! So cut the top right......Oppse too late...well i attached the HS to all these wires on the inside ...hope it works...

great, you've been sucessful at lowering the temperature of the plastic housing surrounding the electronics but done nothing to significantly reduce the temperature of the electronics. I really like your approach to cooling.

It's a joke bro. I had this big copper paperweight sitting on my desk and I couldn't use it to cool anything. I sat around for a few minutes, looking for objects that generated a substantial amount of heat. I couldn't find anything, so I decided to use it on my router. My router's idle temps are already pretty low so I'm going to look for something else.

edti: Hay guise, I have a new mod!!! Hope you like it:

I was having a lot of problems overclocking it. With this heatsink, I managed a 300% OC, all the way up to 33MHz!!

Actually those routers do get a little too warm for my tastes. It'd be nice to see them made of aluminum or something.

Ordered. I'll post a trip report when it arrives. Should be able to shave off a few °C. Thanks for the link.
