ok, i bought an EVGA 6800GT AGP8x for my new rig. I have got'er up to 400/1100 stable. if i go any farther on core, i get artifacts in ATItool, and CSS freezes. I have tried a voltmod that ups the vcore to 1.4v, but that did nothing but create more heat. My idle temp is 52C and load is 78C with RTHDRIBL.
I have heard of people getting 450+ on their core, and i am a bit dissapointed that i can only get 400.
Any ideas on what could be holding me back? Would better cooling (aka NV5/AS5) help?
Thanks a ton,
Nick

Bit dissapointed because you can only overclock $100 dollars more then what you paid for? Cards have limitations...

i KNEW everyone was just going to flame, if you dont have anything good to say dont even post. Let me rephrase: i'm trying to make sure that my card is at its limits. i want more performance in some games.

If you don't want flames, then don't post complaining. Maybe just ask what other people have gotten.
For the record, my BFG did about 415/1120 and it started having problems. I just backed it off to 400/1100 and called it a day, even then it starts to artifact when the head builds up (stupid BFG copper cooler :|). If you want more OC, get an nV Silencer and try that; but even that won't guarantee anything. At least it'll make it quieter.

Yup, I've a waterblock on my eVGA 6800 GT and it will not go above ~420 core. without artifacting. This is with temps in the sub-50 degree C range. For this card, it was just not meant to be.
