Hi guys, first post on this forum. There are probably a lot of questions like this but I couldn't find any threads anywhere with a similar problem, and would appreciate if anyone could help me out.
I recently bought a Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB and installed it into my desktop. I installed it (as a storage drive, not as a boot drive) and the motherboard detected it just fine, and I was able to format the drive from within windows.
Weirdly, games (booting game and loading maps) didn't seem to be any faster than my old HDD, so I decided to run a few tests. Copying and pasting a 15GB .dat file from one folder to another inside the SSD started out at around 120MB/s and slowly started going down to 60MB/s. Running CrystalDiskMark gave me read and writes at around 120MB/s as well.
The motherboard is EVGA nForce 750i, so the SATA ports are SATA II, not SATA III, but shouldn't SSD speeds still be at least double what I'm seeing? Is it something to do with how I've set it up (I picked GTP, not MBR when formatting it) or do I need to do something more to get it working properly?
If it makes any difference, I initialized using GPT instead of MBR. Windows also brings up the AutoPlay prompt for the SSD volume every time I boot my computer up.
Appreciate any replies, thanks!
