Extremely slow saving Excel 2007

I recently purchased a AMD powered netbook with Vista. It runs much faster than I expected. However, when saving a large excel 2007 file, around 25 MB, the machine will take more then 10 minutes to save. During this time I can browse the internet and do other things with a minimal loss of performance. Saving this file does not take as long on other XP powered machines.What could be causing this?

how much ram do you have?

also - 25mb is a huge Excel file - what is taking up so much space?

The netbook has 2GB of ram, the file is full of market data with corresponding charts

Do you have the latest service pack installed? Also is the file over a network connection ?

The netbook does have service pack one installed. Also, this occurs when saving on the hard drive or a jump drive.
