After I have installed the V7700 card and drivers my PC takes a LONG time getting past the dos window of the restart in Windows 98 SE. It says the SB16 emulation has a conflict with a PCI device too, but I don't think that has anything to do with it, cause I tried REM'ing it. Anyone experienced this, or have advice ? I would guess it takes about 2 minutes from at that step. The whole sequence from Power-on used to take 40 seconds...

Sounds like you didn't remove all the drivers though, go into the registry, HKLM\system\controlset001\enum and delete the folder holding the drivers you want gone. Word of advice. Back up the registry first in the event you do this wrong you can at least get back to this configuration.
After removal of folder, reboot and let windows find the card and install the proper drivers at that time. Hopefully this will solve your problem and much faster and easier than a reformat.

If you really want to strip drivers, remove the entire enum folder, boot to the boot floppy and reinstall windows, that will clear and restore all hardware configs and not lose any data you have on the hd.

Good luck.
