Ok, this happened to me the last time i reformatted. In fact, it happens every time i reformat, and i can never remember how i fix it. Anyway, I just reformatted, and now my game/benchmark performance has dropped significantly. I have 41.09 det drivers (same ones i was using before reformat) and the latest motherboard AGP drivers that work (the newest ones just make the problem worse for me). Here's my system:

Asus A7A266 motherboard
BFG GF4 ti4600
512 mb pc 2100 DDR
XP 1600+
some other stuff

what happens is I run 3dmark 2001SE (I realize its outdated but its all I had and I have 56k and didnt want to spend all day downloading 3dmark2003). I get in the low 6000's for a score, which is extremely low considering when i get it working i usually get around 11,000.

Last time this happened i was tearing out my hair trying to get it to work, just like now, and found the quick fix here on AT, but that was about 6 months ago and the thread appears to be gone. Someone else posted basically the same problem as me, and someone else posted the solution. Best I can remember, it involved creating a new Binary Value somewhere in the registry, naming it something, and setting a specific value for if i remember right, it had something to do with some sort of a driver conflict. I can't seem to find this fix anywhere (here and google...i got nothin else).

if anyone knows this or remembers or anything...please help me out here.

under some registry key for the video card, you create a new binary value called "EnableAliAGP", and set it to 01. I forgot where to put it exactly though.

Download and install the latest Rivatuner. It has the 'EnableAliAGP' setting on it.

Dude, before you go a mess w/ the registry. Try installing the Version: 44.03 drivers. Those are the newest drivers from Nvidia and work perfect w/ the ti4600. I know cause thats what I have. Mess w/ the registry and before long you will be installing windows again.

while thats not the exact thread i remember reading, that does help. I will download the 44.03 drivers and get that rivatuner thing. What Quantumslip said, I am fairly certain, is what I did last time, but if I can do it with RivaTuner I'll just do that.

Yeah...that wasn't the same thread, but the thread I read last time was pretty much the same issue, the guy had and ALI chipset and it was conflicting with his video drivers or something like that. thanks a lot, i'll let you guys know if that works.

Thanks for all the help everyone. While i never did find the original thread i had talked about, i did find the website the person in that thread had linked to...http://www.ali.com.tw/eng/support/support_guide_agp.htm.

Google search for "enableAliAGP" gave me that link. I shouldve figured that out...its from a troubleshooting guide at ALI's website. Guess I'm a little slow.

Now I'll probably download the newest det drivers to see how that works. thanks.
