Extremely newb question for Outlook 2003

When I go to delete a message, it just puts a line through it. Is there an option I can enable that makes it where I delete something and it goes to the trash bin right away? What's the line through it mean? I want to delete, then go to trash bin and delete again and confirm. I don't want lines. =(

Umm. I just look at the main screen where they are listed, highlight what I don't want and hit the "delete" key on my keyboard. Poof, gone

You must have an IMAP connection. If you do anything other than IMAP it should delete automatically.

I do have an IMAP, yep. What does that mean and why won't it delete?

This will permanently delete the items you have marked for deletion.
