Extremely low framerate in CoD4 on PS3

I've been playing CoD4 on my 360 since the day it came out. Ran absolutely flawlessly as far as connection to games and framerate.

Last week I picked up a copy of CoD4 for PS3 since I now have more friends that own PS3s than 360s. Now, besides the little irritating issues the PS3 version has that the 360 doesn't, i.e. can't connect to friends when they send you party invites and no host migration, there is one thing that is making this game unplayable:

Framerate drops to an unacceptable level during onling gameplay.

That's right, whenever I play online, the game bogs down badly when there's a ton of action on the screen. At first I thought it was my connection, but it happens even when I'm the host.

Anyone who has played CoD4 online in Ground War knows that in domination matches, it becomes nothing but a random grenade noob session. When there's a bunch of grenades going off, it feels like I'm playing Crysis on a 6600GT. Same goes for smoke grenades, airstrikes, flashbangs, pretty much anytime I'm trying to shoot a bunch of people it bogs down.

The game is pretty much unplayable because of this and I was just wondering anyone else noticed this as well. The PS3 is in perfect condition, running at 720p via HDMI, alone and well ventilated, connected via network cable to 12mbps cable internet and on a surge protector.

Honest answers only please, if you've experienced it, tell me. If not, tell me.

No problems here with frame rate and I have no issues with party invites, either.

Does your connection suck? Latency?

No way. 15.3 mbps down / .99mbps up

And again, Xbox CoD4 has none of these issues.

Oh well, back to xbox I guess.

Next time my camera is around I will take a video of gameplay for u guys.
