THis damn winter is going on too long already. My hands are cracked, dry, split and peeling. I have tried most of the typical lotions, but nothing seems to relieve for long. Anyone know of any good products/remedies???

Cetaphil? My wife uses it on my kids for their dry skin. Kind of pricey, though.

I'd be checked the relative humidity of your workplace and home
You might need a humidifier - there are some places in the winter that drop below
30% which is definitely NOT good for your health

my home included, probably. damn electric heaters on 24/7.

make sure you're also drinking lots of water. the best way to keep your skin hydrated is from within.

remember, "moisture is the essence of wetness. and wetness is the essence of beauty!"

("merMAN!") ;)

Here's what I use :

Lubriderm Seriously Sensitive - good when it's not too bad yet
Ultravate Steroid Cream - prescribed by my doctor, this stuff takes it away in < 1 day. It's terrific.

If it's really bad, you should go see your dermatologist. Steroid creams are excellent for when regular moisturizers aren't helping. Even some OTC steroid creams might be worth a shot. Hope you feel better!

I have tried Bag Balm (Stuff developed for cow udders) and it helps, but it's impractical for daily use. I run a humidifier constantly (except at work) and I plenty of water. I will look for Skin Milk today.

I use the Nivea Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion and it works really well.

Not too greasy either.

go to a GNC store, and get aloe vera Gel, and get Vit E pills and Cream, nothing is better for dry and damage skin than Vit E, and aloe vera Gel is very High in Vit E. A friend of mine used it after she has gallbladder sugery, and it helped reduce the scars alot. Just try it out.
Dogg, ps i own a GNC hehe

yup, I have extremely dry/sensitive skin and these dry Wisconsin winters + hard water just about kill me.

Scalp: I have minor psoriasis on my scalp and I use Head & Shoulders Advanced Treatment as well as the Suave Humectant Conditioner.

Body: Cetaphil for my face (or walmart's "equate" equivalent), and Vaseline Intensive Care for everything else.

if you ask a dermatologist what to use for severely dry skin..they will recommend
a lotion that contains 10% urea

go to your local pharmacy and ask for a lotion that contains 10% urea..you will not be
disappointed. the lotion will actually "sting" a little bit when applied
it is not cheap expect to spend about $10.00

this is just one example linky

many different brands available - doesn't matter which one, the urea is the active ingredient.
