Everyone charges money for codecs they have to pay royalties on, so how is purevideo any different?
Does ATI, or any of their partners, bundle the $15 Cyberlink decoder with any of their cards? Or do you have to buy it? If you do then that almost nullifies the cost of the base PureVideo decoder.

Fact is, the 85's better be impressive or those of us that use our systems for more than just downloaded content and store bought DVDs are better off with AVIVO.

If nV can get H.264 acceleration of 1080p to 50% CPU utilization as they claim, they will definitely win that one. Particularly since their lower end cards will do a minimum of 720p *ostensibly* Heck, since they claim it is directly related to GPU speed, the 7300GS may well do 1080p H.264.

Still, I am very impressed with how far AVIVO has come since the comparison reviews last year. for the ATI team, they earned it.
