Has anyone used any of these products? How well do they perform. I know there is no way they are going to reach 108, but are they significantly better than the normal 54 ones?

Also, I know that if you have a B device connected to a G router that everyone slows down to B speeds. Well, what if you have a G 54 device connected to an Extreme G 108? Will everything slow down to 54?

D-Link has a router and PC card bundled together with rebate for $100 that I think I might buy...

This issue of one ?speed? slowing g to b etc. is individual to each model some do and some not.

You got yourself very nice piece of hardware, not too many of us has it. I think you will have to be the tester and tell us.

A quote from? http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/AP/article.php/3109311

The idea behind dynamic mode is that Super G clients can utilize most of the performance enhancing features while still allowing g and b clients to connect to the network--albeit with a resultant decrease in performance for said Super G clients. This turned out to be the case with the DI-624. At 10 feet and in dynamic mode, the unit pushed through 36.33 Mbps to the DWL-G650. In this mode, I was able to successfully associate an 802.11b client to the DI-624, which dropped the throughput to the DWL-G650 to 17.19 Mbps-- still well above the 10-14 Mbps an 802.11g device can provide in this scenario.

Ok, so basically what that is saying is that it slows down some, but not all the way??

I can only talk about my own situation, and I don't have all the answers at this point. I bought the netgear 624 108 g router, and I'm experimenting this minute with the d-link g 520 pci card. I also have the netgear 511T PC card.

The PC card connects over 54 only if the router is broadcasting in straight 108. My throughput is about 96 ( in a 3 story house). If its broadcasting in 54 G, obviously thats what the card receives.

I bought the dlink card because Netgear doesn't have a 108 G PCI capable card. (and if the router is broadcasting 108 for the laptop, then the desktopsare unable to connect at all without a 108 capable card.)

The dlink card requires that you download a firmware revision to change this 54G card to 108. I did the firmware revison, and it says its getting the 108 tx signal, The router is broadcasting 108, and the desktop has internet, so on that basis it's working, but I see no discernable improvement over the 54 speed.

In fact, it appears that the firmware revision impaired the signal strength somehow. I had a 100% signal strength prior to the download, and I haven't gone about 60% since. The pc is in the same physical position in relation to the router.

The dlink card just arrived today, and this is all new equipment for me. I'm really just learning myself. I don't know if this is any help?
