Extreme DDR-1 Memory Mod! - Must see

I may be the community Cooler Man, but I'm sure not gonna do that stuff. Not worth my time and certainly don't need any added height to my memory. I mean, how much is that really going to help the overclocks? None more than a regular aluminum heatsink I bet. Value: 0. Time wasted would be worth more cash than doing that is.

Dude, its no joke, besides, its for real.

The thing is that i never saw a RAM mod anywhere apart from just adding a few LED's, and if you read carefully i have pointed out all the motherboard issues and the cooling effect. There are a few flaws but since this was the first attempt, i would do much better second time.

But it looks silly? It looks like a childs art project in daylight, and with the lights out, the wires and stuff coming out of it kind of ruin it. I guess it just looks, unprofessional.

OK, it's original, but I could be original by glueing a parrot inside my case. Or OC'ing a P4 with a frying pan for a heatsink, and cooking eggs on it. There just isn't any real point.

I shan't be partaking in a bout of RAM modding just yet, but well done for not frying anything! 🙂

do you spend your time looking at a) your monitor or b) inside of your PC. If you answered b) this mod is for you!

for all you "sane" people... Well 😉

Yea, i can already tell you not having a windowed cae.

and if you think that was insane, check this out, its the first casing of its kind 😀

HERE

That case is what a lot of people hate about 'modding' lol, so many circus lights!

I don't have a windowed case, I still mod bits of my case, in an effort to make it quieter/cooler, it's just an ongoing project I suppose. I just think those RAM mods looked, well, cheap, and that case is like a pre-school toy, it's so multicoloured!

Better than I could make though.

Do you know how much the RAM mod cost me? Less than $ 2 and that is one of the main points. You can buy ready-made LED heat spreaders and you can buy the OCZ GX XTC, but nothing is more satisfying then making one of your own and a cost this low, the mod is not just cheap, it was always aimed to be the cheapest of the cheap cheap cheapstersssssssss.

That casing again is not something you see everyday, has flaws but it's impossible to shape things up with no special tools. It's not a school boy toy by the way, the images aren't that good (that i admit) but the casing itself is huge by any standards. Next time im thinking of a built-in water cooler, that would be sweet 😀

Thanks for the comments though 😀

Touchez, I guess from cheapster point of view, they're pretty attractive. I don't mind some elements of my case being 'ghetto' lol, I just found they looked to untidy.

As a suggestion, I think you could have made the 'claws' all as one piece, that would have tidied it up a lot, and made it easier surely? Also, it could do with a shot from further back, say showing it from the outside, would be intereting to see how they look 'from afar'.

It is an interesting idea though!

That case does seem huge, and by pre-school, I just meant that I associate that many bright 'happy' colours in close proximity with childish things I suppose, didn't intend to put down the actual case.

Congratulations either way! 🙂

geez. you guys are brutal! I'm sure some would appreciate this mod if they liked colorful lights in their case but for most including me, i could care less about how the interior of my case looks as long as my expensive hardware is kept cool. But nice mod, im sure it would look nice if one were to glance at the case instead of inspecting the mod upclose.

Most mods do nothing for cooling because they are made by people designers and not engineers. My RAM mod does nothing much for cooling but the RAM's never need cooling, however, the casing does, with so many fans, heck i run my X800 fanless 24/7.

not impressed...sorry.....

but you've got an Aspire case... X-dreamer, tommy dreamer, and modified too, jee i'd love to see that mod 😱 😀

I have posted pic`s of my case and such....

My main mods are to the airflow.....
Adding 2- 120mm intake fans to the front to cool the h/d`s.
Then I added a bracket and a Zalm,an slim fan to cool the memory. but in fact it was to keep the air moving becuase there was a deadspot right where the memory is located.
I have posted pix of that recently.

Have a nice day!!

wow you guys are harsh. with a bit of refinement, this would be awesome. elpres, if you were local, I would be keen to help out making this a bit mroe elegant, with better cooling. anyways, im keen to pursue this a bit further one day.
