extraterrestrial beings

I haven't seen a discussion on this here recently. I think it could be an interesting thread.

Are we alone in the universe?

What do you think of the little grey guys? Science fiction?

please discuss. i like to see what other people think.

they're out there somewhere. and i really don't care what they look like. bacterial microbes on another planet is an alien species for all i care

I'm certain there's life somewhere else out there. The jury is still out on whether any of them have ever visited here or ever will.

:music:
Pray that there's intelligent life
Somewhere up in space
'Cos there's ah heck all down here on Earth
:music:
😛

It's arrogant of us to assume we are the only "intelligent" life. I bet aliens can download at terabytes/sec. Now that's intelligent.

Why is it arrogant to not assume something for which we have no supporting evidence?

I don't rule out extraterrestrial life, in fact, my gut says it's likely, but it bothers me when people claim it's absolutely certain. In fact, I'm fairly sure that if there's extraterrestrial life, it is, at best, not significantly more advanced than us, otherwise we'd have seen their work (planets being moved, stars being disassembled, etc).

The universe is infinite. I need no other reasoning.

Uh.....

seems more like you need NO reasoning. I've not heard evidence that the universe is infinite.

There is an equation out there that predicts the probability of intelligent life arising, and by varying a few factors, the values of which we have no idea, since we have a sample size of ONE, can deliver values from almost certain, to almost impossible.
