Extracting W2000 serial number from install- Is it possible?

I've lost the serial number for W2000 on a PC. Is there a way to extract it from the installed operating system?

i think you can look in the registry 🙂 i know you could on Win 9x anyway.....

just have a look around you should be able to find it

Got it! Actually, I found it in the $winnt$.ini file in the system32 directory.

here's a little program to find it for you. I jsut tested it and it works great on my version of W2000 and supposedly works for all versions of windows.
