In windows 7 I went to rename a folder and when I right click the folder I saw extra unicode or language related options in the context menu.

There's a pic on this site from another user with the same problem (but no fix)

I have the same issue on 2 other windows 7 x64 PCs as well.
I'm thinking the issue is caused by a recent windows update or maybe I'm losing my mind and its always been that way, but it just doesn't look right to me.

I have only 1 language installed (english) and keyboard layout is US English.

any fix?

thanks

Not sure if this would help, try ShellexView see if you can delete the extra options.

I've been using the same keyboard for 5 years..also the exact same thing is happening on all the PCs (4 total) in my household.

I only have 1 keyboard installed US English same for language packs.

I've tried CCleaner and ShellexView there are no options to turn off anything related to my problem that I can tell.

thanks

It appears to have something to do with the keyboard. Did you install new keyboards?

You can also install CCleaner and under Tools > Startup > Context Menu tab you can disable the ones you don't want.

Do you have other languages (such as Arabic and/or Hebrew) installed on these machines? I know you say you didn't, but it's worth checking the control panel to make sure.

Have you tried simply uninstalling the latest updates to see if the issue goes away?

If you are using System Restore, that should also fix the issue if you choose the right date.

Yep checked each PC and only US English is installed.

Haven't tried uninstalling updates yet, but I will give it a shot.

I don't use system restore because I keep regular backups on a spare hard drive as well as DVDs. I have tried restoring from an earlier disk image however and it didn't help.

thanks for the suggestions..Ill poke around in the updates and if that don't fix it I'll just live with it..not to big of a deal..it just looks odd.

thanks
