I have recently acquired some more storage (thanks to Hot Deals forum), but I have run out of room in my case. It is a Gateway (sigh) 500x. All drive bays are used.

I was thinking about putting an extra drive cage to hold another 2 hard disks and mounting it to the bottom of the case underneath the current hard disks (there is plenty of space). I have yet to find just a plain hard disk cage. I don't even know if they make them (shouldn't be too expensive if they do).

Am I just not calling it the right thing or am I going to have to fabricate one myself?

I looked at all three. They all seem like they should/could work. The bottom of my case is completely flat and I don't mind putting a few holes in the bottom plate to make it work. Mday's is the cheapest (local pickup @ compUSSR), Penguin's seems very sturdy, and CtK's recomendation adds a cooling fan which I think would be great for my (soon to be 2) 250GB Drives.

Thanks for the recomendations, I was at a loss cause I couldn't find anything.

Get a removable HD bay from www.evercase.com . It is the same as installed in their cases with the rubber isolators (look at pix of 4252 series cases on newegg), etc. newegg carried the old model (w/o rubber isolators) and sold them for less than $10. shipped. I don't know how much they are direct from Evercase, but shoudn't be too much.

yea, antec/chieftecs have extra cage options... good if you have one of their towers since they just snap in with a latch and are fan cooled. but you'd have to use tape or something.

you could use bungee cords tand suspend the hd, like in silentpcreview.com or simply leave em lying at the bottom of the case, it really doesn't matter if you odn't move the case.
