My wife has a reading list for 2011 and she went out to Barnes and Noble last night to get the first couple of items. When she got back, this was in the bag. She had apparently figured out that I wanted one, but not to the point where I'd go buy it for myself.

Within a couple of hours, I'd already rooted it and have it running the Kindle app so I can read the few books I had purchased there. This thing is seriously awesome.

Auto-nooter
is a bit overkill, since I really only rooted it to load Kindle. I'm trying to figure out if there's a minimal approach I can take so that the extras don't eat up my battery. I already have an Evo for that.

I'll probably reset to factory when I'm finished with my last purchase from the Kindle store. I have the files, and I'm sure an unlock will be possible at some point.

Leave it rooted, they're a great device to tinker with :)

The update will likely undo everything soon enough anyway...

I love mine, and they're sturdy as hell, I've dropped mine multiple times and it's still fine...

I ended up doing just the nooter root, which gives ADB access. I installed the Kindle app via ADB. Basically got myself everything I wanted for now, with room to go further if I want to install some more apps.

So far, it's great.

reading reviews about this thing, I saw how laggy it was just flipping through the pages. I can't imagine how slow it'll be running factory android... They probably didn't make this thing to perform..
