Please can anyone help me here?

I've been looking for a while and cannot seem to find what I require/need.

What I want to do is to find a way, for free, to backup my 1tb external hard drive in the event of it breaking, or failing to work anymore.

Call me paranoid but what with all the events in life at the moment I'm not trusting anything and hence why I am looking for this extra security in the event of the worse.

My computer backup is already in effect there is not enough room to fit my 1tb external hard drive and would like oit to be seperate amyway.

If anyone can assist me it will be greatly appreciated.

Just get another one, and duplicate (clone) your existing drive to it. Then you have two. Disconnect one and then redo when necessary.

Ihave three operating systems, and they all have external data drives that are clones.

I wonder what online "cloud storage" vendor would be the most affordable for storing 1TB of data offline. That's just a nice security in the event of a fire. Or if you have a crazy ex girlfriend hell bent on reformatting all the disks in the house or something...

While it might be a nice option, uploading 1TB of data will blow through most residential plans caps, and most don't even offer any faster than 1Mbit/sec, which would take a incredibly long time.

Sorry to hear about your disability. Your backup challenge is to extract what is really important and critical on that 1TB drive. There is nothing free for that size in total. You can find free off line storage for much smaller amounts, i.e., 2GB, 12GB,etc. Beyond that, it isn't free.

What you really need to work on is a backup plan. I'm quite sure that not all on that 1TB drive is vital information. You really have to decide what data is vital and what isn't.

I "googled" Free On-Line Storage" and it was there, but the second time, I couldn't find it. Can you try that search in your UK area?

I also read where some mail programs allow you to store mail - and that mail can be data as well as email. Just nwrap it in a email carrier.

Here's one for 5GB - http://www.sugarsync.com/free/

And one with no limit - http://www.justcloud.com/

Not sure I would trust anything like that one - there has to be a string attached somewhere.
