External Vs. Internal CD Writer

I was wondering what the trade offs were between an internal and external CD Writer (eg. speed, cost, etc.). I am asking because I was thinking of getting a USB external one.

Thanks

USB 1.1 or USB 2? USB 1.1 has a max write speed of 4x. The only external burners I would buy would be SCSI or Firewire.

Unless you really have a need for a portable burner, stick with an internal; it'll be cheaper and faster. If you really must have an external and your time is worth anything to you, then don't even consider a USB 1.1 drive.
