Hi all. I am looking for a solid, reliable external HDD that offers RAID1 for data redundancy purposes.
I currently have a WD My Book Duo but I have read that there are issues regarding data loss, due to the fact that regardless of whether you select to implement an encryption password at setup, the drive encrypts the data anyway. Thus making it virtually impossible to recover your data should the device HW/OS fail. I am not sure if this is specific to the older models only?
If the above is correct, I am not prepared to take the risk and would therefore seek your recommendations for an alternative.
