External USB enclosure with CDRW problems..

I'm trying to get a USB enclosure working with my CDRW. I can read cds, but writing to cdrs causes a buffer underrun error. I have tried burning at 2x, defragging, updating bios, getting new drivers. I'm using nero 6, btw. I'm guessing the USB bandwidth just isn't enough or something, but I can't figure out what I can do. The enclosure is advertised as supporting CDRWs and DVDRWs..

Oh, and its the only thing hooked up to the USB 1 port.

Correction -- its a USB 2 port.

Do you have USB 2.0 drivers installed?
What OS do you have?

Yep, got USB 2.0 drivers installed. Running Windows XP Home.

i have a dvd+/-rw in an usb2/firewire enclosure and have no problems burning w/ USB2.

Are you sure USB2 is enabled or is there any driver problems? You certainly aren't getting enough bandwidth.
