Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting a USB 2.0 External hard drive for backup use. Something less or equal to 40gb's... Right now i'm currently looking at Maxtor's version which is ~$190.00 shipped.

Anyone have any suggestions on good drives or where i can get them? Also, does anyone know if just buying an external case and putting in your own hard drive works just as well.

Thanks!

That would be the better choice, as it enables you to upgrade without buying a whole new unit. I have one of those that uses USB 1.0, and it works great.

I was just reading about hard drives and apparently
if you're planning on getting an internal one it would be best
to wait till the first quarter of 2002 as they are introducing
a serial ata type which has much faster access times than anything currently available.

Re USB 2 is that connector the same as the original USB connector?
WXP doesn't have support for it also. :(
