Looking for best quality and price/performance for an external USB capable drive, USB 2.0. All of my current comps only support 1.1 but several manufacturers also include a 2.0 capable PCI card. I was looking at the Iomega drive from Amazon since there's a 30 dollar rebate and a soon to expire deal to buy one from Amazon (20 off 100 expires at midnight PST tonight 2 hours from now). I really have a lot of use for a portable burner like this but I don't want the headaches involved if the reviews listed on Amazon are accurate in terms of software problems.

Anyone got a 16x or better external USB 2.0 that's as reliable as a Plextor internal that comes in between 150-200 shipped (obviously preferable near 150 but hey)?

Someone make the dream come true.

For USB 2.0 (external) look at the Que 24X CDRW - about $199 at CompUSA. I have two of them, but Firewire. There are problems with USB 2.0 drivers for XP . . . they are alledgedly posted by Microsoft, but hidden so that no one can find them. :)

Thanks, Bacillus. I saw your other post in OS's. I checked those files and there are some the same and some different that the Microsoft package. (Which I eventually found.) They don't make it easy. :)
