So I bought the Consus Eagle SATA enclosure from the egg on a whim, it was $22 with $22 rebate...so what the hell...
My question is...what exactly does the sata to usb chipset do?
The box takes the SATA on the inside and converts it to USB 2.0...but what does it do to the disk?
I have a couple of pretty full NTFS 500GB disks that would be nice to swap into the enclosre, but I don't want the chipset to stomp on the filesystem or otherwise mess with my data. Can I just swap drives into this with no issues, or will I get hosed?
Also, if I put this on my linux system, will the OS see it as NTFS and thus have issues, or is there some other abstraction going on?
thanks
