External SATA connections

Why don't mobos have a SATA connection on the outside? like near the USB inputs? It seems if this were offered it would be GREAT for high speed external HDs
 
The Enermax Chakra cases have an eSata port near the other front panel ports. I think it just uses a better shielded cable to go direct to any mobo. I suppose to do REAL eSata w/ hot swap then the chipset and/or BIOS needs to support that too.
