external QAM TV Tuner

My sister-in-law gave me her old 37" 720 HD TV. It does not have a qam tuner, so I can't view the free / clear qam channels that TimeWarnerCable broadcasts in their $10/month "Broadcast Cable" package.

If I wanted to purchase an external qam tuner, is there anything better than this:

Get a Silicon Dust HD Homerun. Stay far, far away from Kworld. ime, it's Krap, they don't update drivers to fix issues with their products, and their tech support is horrible.

The OP only has a 720p TV, so spending $100 to get 1080p upconversion seems like a waste. The lower-end model seems more reasonable.

Much as I love SiliconDust, the HDHomeRun requires a PC, and the solution that the OP is interested in does not.

Another is a cheap TiVo HD. They're getting real cheap, and if all you want to do is tune channels (no guide), you don't require a subscription.

Using a TiVo had not occurred to me. Are you certain the Tuner function works without a subscription ?
